The Grinder officeus vervolg op Hunter

Nieuws | 21 maart 2010 - Aankomende PlayStation 3-, Xbox 360-, PC- en Wii-titel The Grinder is een onofficieel vervolg op de Hunter: The Reckoning-serie. Dat zei ontwikkelaar High Voltage's John Olson in een interview met Nintendo World Report.

Quote: “We looked at titles out there; there’s plenty of FPSs on 360 and PS3, and we went multi-platform. We saw that there was a market for a title that we did called “Hunter.” It was on Xbox, GameCube and PS2 back in the day. And a sequel to that’s a constant request from fans, from press. We really liked this universe. We kind of had The Grinder be a spiritual successor to that title, which did very well for us.”

Spirituele opvolger
Volgens Olson is de first person shooter-markt op de Xbox 360 en PlayStation 3 flink populair. De ontwikkelaar maakte eerder al Xbox en GameCube-game Hunter: The Reckoning, Xbox-game Hunter: The Reckoning: Redeemer en PlayStation 2-game Hunter: The Reckoning: Wayward voor diezelfde markt. Daarop werd het verzoek voor een vervolg zo vaak ontvangen, dat besloten werd om van The Grinder een spirituele opvolger te maken.

The Grinder
The Grinder was oorspronkelijk een first person shooter exclusief voor de Wii, maar komt nu ook als top-down shooter naar de Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 en PC. Vooralsnog staat de release met Halloween 2011 gepland.
