'UEFA Euro 2012 DLC geen melkerij'

Nieuws | 21 april 2012 - Volgens de lead producer van EA Canada, Sebastian Enrique, zal de nieuwe UEFA Euro 2012 DLC voor FIFA 12 geen melkerij worden. Dit heeft hij vermeld in een interview met CVG.

Veel mensen denken dat de FIFA-serie aardig wordt uitgemolken. Toen deze stelling aan de lead producer verteld werd antwoordde hij het volgende. Hij legt onder andere uit dat ze vooral richten op de entertainment van de game. Natuurlijk moet er ook geld verdiend worden, maar melkerij wilt Sebastian Enrique het niet noemen.

Quote: "Every game company, or most of them, are companies that are there to make profit. We are there, or at least my team and I are there, for two reasons. One of those, and this is very important, is to make entertainment, to make great games and football simulations that people can enjoy. On the other side, we also need to pay the bills, and the way to do that is to make money for the company, so it's not milking, it's just we have a repeatable product. Like with movies, where you have sequels and sequels after sequels, it's not just milking because you want to make money, if you ask the actors and directors, they do it because they love the art."

Verder vroeg CVG aan de lead producer of de DLC ook als standalone product in de winkels komt te liggen. Hier kon Enrique weinig over zeggen omdat zulke besluiten niet in zijn handen liggen. Hijzelf is meer geïnteresseerd om bestaande FIFA-fans te belonen door middel van de DLC. In eerste instantie zal de DLC dus alleen te downloaden zijn, maar wie weet dat de DLC binnenkort ook in de winkel te verkrijgen is.

Quote: "When you make any decision it's not going to satisfy all the consumers out there. Yes, grandma won't be able to go to a store and buy the game for her grandson, but the user base, the amount of people who bought the base game [over ten million], and the amount that are still playing it, is big enough to justify the decision from a business perspective. So for those FIFA fans, instead of having to go to the store to buy a £40 retail product as they've had to do in the past with games like FIFA World Cup 2010, they can buy the expansion for £15.99 and they don't have to change the disc, so we think it's much more convenient for the fan base, and those are the guys that I care about."

De FIFA UEFA Euro 2012 DLC zal vanaf 24 april te downloaden zijn voor PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 en PC. De DLC zal zoals de naam al doet vermoeden de UEFA Euro 2012 speltype beschikbaar maken voor spelers van FIFA 12.
