Born in Enschede, The Netherlands... Moved around a lot... Lived in Enschede, Gorinchem, Lombardijen, and Rotterdam and stayed there ever since. Rotterdam-City, 010-Baby!
ANONG, Whose real name is Hoger Mohammad, has been artistic ever since he heard music banging through the speakers. On the age of 5 he got in touch with the hit-album of Michael Jackson called ‘Thriller’. Michael Jackson has been a great influence on ANONG ever since. On the age of 11 he got in touch with the ‘Marshal Mathers LP’ of Eminem and that’s when it all happened. ANONG found out that there’s more to music than you think there is. It’s a way to express yourself, both positively and negatively. It’s just certainly better than using violence, drugs or just keeping it inside of you until you blow up.
On the age of 12 ANONG started to write poetry. He won a couple of prizes through school and the community which wasn’t a big deal. ANONG wanted to touch the people from all over the world with his believes and thoughts but that didn’t go as planned by writing poetry. ANONG found out that it has been music all along that talks to people, so on the age of 15 he started to rap and he received a lot of great responses and feedback which made him stronger and inspired him to keep on going.
He recently discovered that he could also sing but he needs to work on that until it gets better, so we will be expecting singing material any time soon.
Now you probably ask yourself: ‘How is it that you speak English that well and why do you make music in English?’ Well that’s a funny but also a tragic story. My cousin, whose mom past away when he was 3 years old couldn’t speak Kurdish (which is my native language) because his dad was an Arab, so he was only taught how to speak Arabic and not Kurdish. So there was no possible way to communicate except for doing it in English. This was a dramatic type of English but the older we grew, the better we got and that’s what brought me here.
ANONG has been through a lot in his life, like death of relatives because of the war in Iraq, mainly because of Saddam Hussein and the pain he has because of that, he will express in his music of now and soon to come.
“Music is my way of expressing myself, I can’t image to live without creating music. It’s like a story I have to tell in every song. You hear a lot of messages in my lyrics and some are subliminal to be honest.”
Now ANONG is a great, motivated rapper with so much talent that a lot of people daily tell him. We expect 2010/2011 to be a huge, great and incoming year for ANONG. This young talent has got unique ways to show himself and we will get a taste of that soon. ANONG will perform a lot from now on and will do anything to be successful.
It's just a matter of time and you can't lose him out of your eyes…
